Appointments to the Elderly Commission

The Government today (July 28) announced the appointment of a new member and the re-appointment of two incumbent members to the Elderly Commission (EC).

The appointments will take effect from July 30 for a term of two years.

The new member, Dr John Wong Yee-him, is a psychiatrist of the Kwai Chung Hospital. He is an elected member of the Kowloon City District Council and a member of the Appeal Board Panel (Town Planning), Criminal and Law Enforcement Injuries Compensation Boards and Home Purchase Allowance Appeals Committee Panel.

The two re-appointed members are Ms Anita Wong Yiu-ming and Professor Jean Woo.

The Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr York Chow, welcomed the new appointment and re-appointments, adding that he looked forward to their contributions to the development of elderly services in Hong Kong.

Dr Chow also thanked outgoing member Dr Ng Yau-yung for his valuable contributions during his tenure.
