SFH on public hospital fees

< Back

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function today (June 18):

Reporter: Dr Ko, after the service charges increased in the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department, is it still crowded in A&E Departments or in other areas at hospitals?

Secretary for Food and Health: We are very concerned and we are monitoring the situation of the A&E Departments of public hospitals after the adjustment of the service fees. Up to this moment, we have not received any reports of operational problem so far. On the other hand, I think we need a longer period of time to observe and to monitor the utilisation rate of the A&E Departments, to see whether the rate, especially the non-urgent category, would change or not.
