Appointments to the Hospital Authority

The Government announced today (March 23) the appointment of two members and the re-appointment of one member to the Hospital Authority.

Professor Lam Shiu-kum and Professor Richard Wong Yue-chim are appointed as members of the Hospital Authority for a period of two years with effect from April 1, 2001. Professor Lam Shiu-kum is Dean of Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong and an expert in gastroenterology and hepatology. Professor Richard Wong is the Director of the School of Business and The Hong Kong Centre for Economic Research of the University of Hong Kong. 

Dr Wu Wai-yung is re-appointed as member of the Hospital Authority, also for a period of two years with effect from April 1, 2001.

Secretary for Health and Welfare, Dr E K Yeoh, thanked the retiring member, Professor Grace Tang, for her expert advice and invaluable contributions to the Authority in the past years.

The newly-constituted Hospital Authority as at April 1, 2001 comprises 25 members, namely the Chairman, 20 non-official members, three public officers, and one principal officer from the Hospital Authority. The full membership list is as follows:
