Appointment of the TAVA Advisory Committee
The Government announced today (June 29) the appointment of Mr John Yeung Hin-chung as Chairman of the Traffic Accident Victims Assistance Advisory Committee.
Two incumbent members, Mr Lee Wai-hung and Mr Louis Leung Wing-on, have also been re-appointed. They have, during their term of office, made valuable contribution to the work of the Advisory Committee.
In addition, two new members have been appointed to serve on the Committee. They are Miss Dora Chan Siu-king and Ms Winnie Kong Lai-wan. Miss Chan has wide experience in the financial sector while Ms Kong is experienced in both the public and private sectors.
They all have been appointed for a term of two years with effect from July 1, 2001.
Secretary for Health and Welfare, Dr E K Yeoh, thanked members for their valuable support and contribution over the years and looked forward to the contribution of new members to the work of the Advisory Committee.
The Traffic Accident Victims Assistance Advisory Committee advises the Director of Social Welfare on all matters pertaining to the administration of the Traffic Accident Victims Assistance Scheme and the Traffic Accident Victims Assistance Fund.
It consists of five non-official members and three ex-officio members including the Director of Social Welfare (Vice-chairman), the Director of Legal Aid or his representative and the Commissioner of Police or his representative.
