Appointment and Re-appointment of Elderly Commission Members
The Government today (August 9) announced the appointment of a new member and re-appointment of five incumbent members to the Elderly Commission (EC) for a period of two years with effect from July 30, 2001. The appointments will be published in the gazette tomorrow (August 10).
The new EC member is Dr Susie Lum Shun-sui. Dr Lum is a nurse by profession. She has been involved in nursing services for over 32 years, with experience in operation, service planning, training and manpower planning.
The five incumbent members who have been re-appointed are the Hon Tam Yiu-chung (the Chairman), Prof Iris Chi, Dr Marion Fang Sum-suk, Mr Wan Man-yee and Dr Raymond Wu Wai-yung.
Secretary for Health and Welfare, Dr E K Yeoh, welcomed the new appointment and re-appointment of members and looked forward to their contributing to the development of elderly services in Hong Kong.
Dr Yeoh also expressed gratitude to Mr Michael Ho Mun-ka, who has retired from the EC when his term of office expired on July 30, 2001. Mr Ho has served on the EC for four years and made valuable contributions to its work, including chairing an ad hoc committee under the EC tasked with reviewing the care services available to elders living at home and making recommendations for improvement.
