SHW visits Breakthrough Youth Village
Secretary for Health and Welfare, Dr E K Yeoh, had a fruitful exchange of views with the youths during a visit to the Breakthrough Youth Village today (September 7).
Dr Yeoh was greeted by the general secretary of the Breakthrough, Dr Choi Yuen-wan, who are also the chairman of the Commission on Youth, and was briefed on the range of facilities and services offered by the Village.
During the visit, the Secretary was invited to share his feelings on the hoslistic development of youth in the "VR (Virtual Reality) Theatre", an interactive play involving the playback of the audience's feelings.
Dr Yeoh was then led to the Xyber Caf� where he saw a presentation by the youth reporters who had created a web site "Uzone21.com" to know more about the rest of the world through columns and features produced by U-reporters overseas.
Dr Yeoh was finally introduced to a host family in one of the camp quarters. He had a good chat with a couple who use their free time to provide support and guidance to a youth at risk and takes temporary lodging there.
The Breakthrough Limited is a non-subvented Christian charitable youth organization. It has been serving young people for the past 28 years with innovative programmes in meeting the needs of contemporary youths.
