World Family Doctor Day (WFDD) – 19 May – was first declared by the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) in 2010 to highlight the role and contribution of family doctors in health care systems around the world.
To commemorate WFDD, the Department of Health, the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians jointly launched a themed competition with the topic “Primary Care – Family Doctor as Your Health Partner” in February 2012. The purpose of the competition was to raise the awareness of the general public about the importance of primary care and the family doctor concept. The public was invited to submit photographs, videos and other forms of creative work. The competition had open group and secondary school group.
The Award Presentation Ceremony was then held on 19 May 2012 at Citywalk, Tsuen Wan, New Territories.
