SHWF on ovitrap indices

Following is the transcript (English portion) of a media session by the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr York Chow, on ovitrap indices after attending a public function this (September 23) morning:

Reporter: Any investigation into the ovitrap indices?

Dr Chow: We have now required the department (Food and Environmental Hygiene Department) to have a thorough investigation to see whether there is any manipulation of the results of ovitrap reports, in particular, which districts and what types of results. This is a very important index for us to have measures to control mosquitoes in our community. If the results are wrong or manipulated, then of course it would affect public health status of the district. So, it is very important.

Dr Chow: We have to find out the fact first and see whether this is the system's problem or a human problem.
