SFH on resumption of supply of Mainland live poultry

< Back

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending the Legislative Council meeting today (January 21):

Reporter: (On resumption of Mainland live poultry)

Secretary for Food and Health: We have been in very close liaison with the Mainland authorities regarding the resumption of live poultry supply to Hong Kong. According to the information we gathered up to this moment, the Mainland authorities concerned have not yet issued any permission for registered poultry farms on the Mainland to resume their supply to Hong Kong. This means that there will not be any resumption of live poultry supply from the Mainland to Hong Kong tomorrow.

Reporter: (On resumption of Mainland live poultry)

Secretary for Food and Health: We certainly hope that the supply arrangement from the Mainland could resume before the Lunar New Year. That's why we are keeping a very close liaison with the Mainland authorities.
