< Back

The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, visited Cheung Chau this afternoon (September 2) to view the environmental hygiene and healthcare services there.

Accompanied by the Chairman of the Islands District Council, Mr Chow Yuk-tong, and the District Officer (Islands), Mr Anthony Li, Dr Ko first inspected a pavilion, Hoi Bun Ting, near the typhoon shelter. The pavilion is used by some of the residents to pay their last respects to people who have passed away.

Dr Ko then walked to St John Hospital, where he was briefed on the services provided by the hospital.

Before leaving the island, Dr Ko took the opportunity to visit Cheung Chau Sports Centre and chatted with participants of a handicrafts interest class. He also talked to residents and shop operators to have a better understanding about their daily life and business conditions.

He then returned to the Islands District Council in Central and rounded up his visit programme by exchanging views with council members on matters under the purview of the Food and Health Bureau.
