SFH statement on salary adjustment for senior HA staff

< Back

In response to the salary adjustment for the senior staff of the Hospital Authority (HA) approved by the HA Board today (November 19), the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, made the following statement:

"The HA Board approved the salary adjustment for senior employees today. I am pleased that the matter has now been satisfactorily resolved between the management and staff side through dialogue and goodwill.

"The HA, being the statutory body responsible for the provision of public health services, has the authority to determine the salary level of its employees.

"It is of paramount importance that all public money must be used in a proper way. I note that the HA, in the long run, has the ability to sustain and absorb the recurrent expenses arising from this salary adjustment decision.

"The devotion and contributions of frontline medical staff in the public sector have all along been well recognised by the community. I have confidence that all medical staff of the HA will continue to provide quality services to the public amid a heavy workload and the challenges of an ageing population."
