Statistics

(a) To align with the latest international guidelines (SHA 2011), Current Health Expenditure (CHE) is the single main presentation indicator from 2025 onwards.
(b) Total Health Expenditure (THE) is derived by the sum of CHE and gross fixed capital formation (GFCF). If needed, users can obtain THE by summing CHE and GFCF, both available under “Explore Time Series”.
(c) For the years between 2019/20 and 2022/23, two sets of statistics on the Hong Kong’s Domestic Health Accounts are presented: one including identified COVID-19 expenditure* and another one excluding it. You can click the appropriate button to access these two sets of statistics.
(d) A set of summary statistics presented in this dashboard is also available at https://data.gov.hk/en-data/dataset/hk-hhb-hhbro-hkdha.

Note: * Identified COVID-19 expenditure refers to the additional resources allocated for combatting the COVID-19 epidemic. Internal resources deployed to sustain necessary anti-epidemic efforts are not included if such resources are covered as part of the organisation’s overall expenditures and no separate account is kept.
