Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, before attending the Legislative Council meeting today (June 2):

Reporter: (On whether Hong Kong people should avoid travelling to South Korea.)

Secretary for Food and Health: Up to this moment, all the confirmed Middle East Respiratory Syndrome cases in South Korea are related to healthcare institutions, and there is no direct evidence of sustained transmission in the community. Accordingly, the World Health Organization does not support (imposing) any travel restrictions on South Korea. We would like to appeal to all Hong Kong citizens who need to travel to South Korea to avoid visiting any healthcare institutions there. If there is a need to visit a healthcare institution, they should take appropriate precautions, including wearing a face mask and paying attention to hand hygiene.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
