< Back

The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, today (August 26) expressed grave concern over a medical incident in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in relation to the contamination of the lung specimens of a 64-year-old male patient. The incident led to an unnecessary surgical excision of a lung lobe of the patient earlier this month.

Dr Ko sends his sincere regards to the patient and his family.

He has instructed the Hospital Authority to critically review the incident and set up an investigation panel to get to the root of the incident and suggest improvement measures in order to avoid future occurrence of similar incidents.
